UPDATE-60 psi oil pressure SENDER-rebuild?

My logic tells me that to attempt this may be to much trouble for a unit that is so critical to engine preservation and maintenance. Unfortunately, these Units with the Douglass Connector are hard to find in 60 psi, and expensive. I possess two used 60 psi units, and curious if anyone has attempted and succeeded rebuilding the pressure sender? Time and Patience are luring me to pull one apart.

Hey,

The dial face outer ring is crimped, which holds the back and front of the gauge together. I have been told that you need to be careful when taking this apart.

I have not rebuilt mine myself. I sent mine to Bob's Speedometer, they were expensive. I don't know of anyone else who works on older gauges. It is a dying art.

I goofed on the subject as I meant to direct rebuild inquiry of a 60 psi PRESSURE SENDING UNIT. and not the gauge

In lieu of your response, I had successfully attempted a refurbi of a speedo unit . the bezel is tricky to remove. but do-able with an improvised slotted screwdriver that is ground and bent to pry the bezel from the acrylic lens housing. Patience is required for this act ...

I have not attempted to rebuild one but have given it a little throught. They look like they are soldered together. So unsoldering is a hurdle. There are likely some old style diaphram and spring things along with an old skool wirewound rheostat. Parts to repair them are probably unobtanium so figuring out how to repair them may be a trick.
But I cant help thinking that a more modern sensor housed in that big brass housing might be a different way to go.
With lots of time it could be a project to try.
