Paint codes

Post by Mateo »

All,

I am restoring a 1951 M-38 and I'm curious to know if anyone has the paint codes for the engine block, head and various other collateral engine components?

OD 2430 (AJP's Late WWII OD or Gillespie's 23070 are your closest match off the shelf)

Black items were a semi-gloss black. (The standard automotive chassis black is best match)

There is no evidence to date that M38's left Willys with anything other than OD2430 and chassis black. There is evidence during M38A1 production that Navy gray, USAF Strata Blue were used at Willys. Nothing firm on USMC Forest Green until the 1960's contracts.
