Quick and Dirty Ring job
My friend has a 43 GPW with a later cj flathead installed that oil smokes badly. Runs smooth, 40 psi oil press, tried all the tricks for stuck rings, no help. He does not want to put much money in this engine, looking for a Ford block. Has anyone ever: Pull the piston, new rings, finsh hone the cyl, back in the hole. Will it work for a while?

You are counting for 4 cylinders aren't you?1 head gasket
1 oil pan gasket
1 set of rings
1 set of rod bearings
You need to add a little more work in there. Mic the bores and inspect the ring grooves and lands for excess wear.
