front wheel allignment

What is the exactly frontwheel allignment in/out for a M38 with 700/16 tires ? It seems my frontwheel allignment is out instead of in.

There are three primary alignment measurements. They are Toe, caster and camber.
Toe is measured in inches or fractions thereof that the longintudinal centerline of the front tires are straigh ahead Zero toe, angled inwards towards each other "Toe-In" or angled away from each other "Toe-Out".

Camber is the measurement in degrees that the vertical axis of the front wheel is tilted outboard or inboard. This is usually depicted at the top.

Caster is the measuremnt in degrees that the vertical axis of the wheel is tilted forward.

You can adjust toe by moving tie rod ends closer or further apart.

Caster and camber have no actual adjusting mechanisms since they are designed into the front suspension.

Toe = 3/32 to 3/16" IN

Caster = 3 degrees

Camber = 1 1/2 degree

King pin inclination is 7 1/2 degrees. For the M38 this is the axis through the center of the upper and lower pivot bearings.

thanks Wes, it was the toe-in/toe-out i needed. The wheels are 0.2 inches toe-out now. I saw it because my fronttires shows more wear than the tires on the back. I will adjust then to 0.1 inches toe-in. During the resto the tierods where still in good condition, and i left them as they were without checking the toe-in/toe-out The jeeps drives good straight forward so i thought it would be OK

If you are setting toe on the floor with anti-friction provision for tire then after each adjustment roll the jeep aft a full revolution of the tire and then back forward a full revolution then take a new measurement.

It is an improvement, the jeep drives the same, but after making a turn, the wheels comes faster to the straight forward position. And my steering wheel is nice centered during driving straight forward.
