Horn exploded diagram

Wes and Ryan,

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the inside of the M38 horn or a picture of it? I bought a horn second hand and it did not make any auduble noise when installed. I did have 24 VDC accross it. I split the two halfs and saw allot of corrosion, to I proceeded to disassemble it. I made a drawing of how all the plates stacked under the two center 8/32 screws but cant seem to find it now. Got distracted with my sons baseball game. I cleaned all of the corrosion off of the parts and just needd to go back together to test. Can anyone assist?

Did you get her back together?

Did you have any luck getting your horns to work?

Ryan,

Took the week-end off to honor all of the vets. Thanks by the way for your service to our country. I did not get my original horn back together. Without knowing how the plates to the field are stacked, I did not want to guess. On the replacement horn I bought, I still need to run two independent wires direct from the batteries to prove it out. I will take neg. off of one batt and positive from the other batt. Hope to do it this week. I will let you know how i make out. I sure hope i dont have another dead horn.

I have an extra non-working horn I will have to see about getting some photos for you. It will be in a week as all this next week is travelling for the Army.

These horns are fairly simple, unless it is corroded badly, it should be repairable. It may need a new capaciter or relay.
I would like to fix my other horn and I would think with a little work and a Radio Shack nearby it would be fixable.

Shoot me an email in a week and lets see what we can do.

P.S.
I need you to take some photos of what you have and label them so I know what you are specifically talking about on the individual parts.

Is it a Sparton or an Auto-Lite Horn?

Ryan and Wes,

I have the Autolite as my orignal horn. I will need to find the digital cam to take some pictures for you. I have a second horn that also does not work which is the M151 late mititary style that has the riveted front cover on it.

I would really like to restore the Autolite if it does not kill me on cost. It seem to be a pretty simple device.
