M38 title
i have 3 m38's but i don't have a title with any. i finally got the best in shape one running but i need a title to put it on the road. is there any faster or better ways to get a title other then going through a garage and paying them to do an abandoned vehicle claim? someone told me about some people having boxes of titles from old war jeeps they sell at large jeep shows. which i doubt. I'm guessing not having a title for these old jeeps is a common problem right? i have serial numbers from all 3 jeeps. if that matters. thanks if anyone can help.

It depends on your state. In Kansas, you just take the vehicle down to the DMV and a highway patrol officer runs the numbers from the vehicle and if it checks out OK, you can get a title.
Some states will do a title with a bill of sale.
I don't know about Maryland. Have you checked with your DMV?

Some states will only issue a registration. If you have a bill of sale for any of the jeeps you can also go with a Title Company down south and they will get you in one case an Alabama Title for a fee and then you submit the Alabama title to your DMV for a local state title. Or you can also apply for a contructed vehicle title in many states. The thing for you to do right now is visit your states DMV web site and learn how their system works.

yeah the Dmv wont even do anything unless i have a title. i got one of my jeeps from PA, and it has the title number on the plate, but the DMV wouldnt give me any contact information. it also has the plate number but the insurance company doesnt have the records from 1970 which was when it was last registered. i cant believe it is so difficult to just get a title.
the only option they gave me was abandoned vehicle. i have no bill of sale, i got 2 of the jeeps for free just because they were in the way. i wish the naval base had title records from all their jeeps. that make this easy

I was able to track down the previous owner (I got the jeep at a scrap auction) who lived in DC. I gave him $100 to file a duplicate title request with the DC DMV which he signed over to me. The the MD DMV titled and tagged it in my name. A real hassle. Try the title service listed in the MV magazines.

We just used International Title Co out in Las Vegas and got our Alabama paperwork back in 11 days from them. We took that paperwork down to the Illinois DMV and they accepted it with no problem. Checked with them yesterday and our title was mailed out to us yesterday so it should be here on Monday.... Easy process for anyone who is still looking to do it. They have a bill of sale you print off of the internet, sign it and have it notarized and send it to them then 10 days later...poof!
