Generator pulley alignment

From the beginning of my start up on my engine my generator has been slightly misaligned. When I installed it I could not determine how to make it straight with the fan and crank pulley. The rubber bushings on both ends of the bracket do not have any slop in them. SoI left it misaligned. As viewed from the side, the front of the generator is slightly inward making the pully off center with the fan pully. When at idle the belt noise makes a shish shish shish sound.

Today I decided to see if I could correct it. But no, same ole thing. It is very difficult to determine why it is cocked inward on the front end.
cocked less that an 1/8". But just enough to make the shishing sound.
Sounds like belt is hitting a high spot.
I did have that generator apart for cleaning and inspection before I mounted it. I just wonder if maybe the bolts ears are not centered like they should be and if that would cause the misalignment.
Scratching my head!!

Guess I'll be pulling that sucker off. That ain't gonna be easy now.

Edited: I looked at the end plates. I forgot that there are a half dozon screws, so I could not have got them on wrong or off some.

I am replying to my post.

I think I may have found what is making that noise.
After removing the belts I see a spot on the fan pulley on the pump side lip that is bent in. Now to see what I do about it.

Yep that's what was causing the noise. The inner pulley grove lip is distorted. I tried hittiing it with a straight bar and hammer at an angle to push out a point on it. I succeeded in doing that. However it did not stop the noise completely. I removed the inner belt and started the engine. Now the noise is gone. I did help it some. Maybe save up for a new pulley. So I guess the generator cocked slightly may not be a big deal.
