Re; On-going Restoration of early 51 M38 (Serial 11116)
Up to the stage of connecting all vaccum/vent tubing.
Where do both both fuel tank and transfer case tubing connect to.. Presume it may be air cleaner??
Finding it difficult to access the transfer case vent to replace tubing. Is it via the inside floor plate or elsewhere?

The fuel tank vent goes to the air cleaner, it is a run of 86" 3/16 copper tubing... with 45" of 3/16 loom on the end that is under the seat.
The Transfer case vent connects to the vent on the side of the bell housing drivers side (T) and goes to the center of the fuel vacumm pump. There is a special ball check valve installed there. Remi Edmond on this site had access to the valve as the only place that makes it is in Canada now a days... However if toy want to make a dummy you get a brass 1/8 to 37 degree flare fitting and fil it with solder and ti will look like the proper fitting.
Hope this helps...

Hal,
Don't forget there is an early and late vent system. Official change at vehicle vehicle serial number 52363
11116 would be the early set up without a sealed bell housing. The transfer case vent line should run directly toward the front of the jeep to a brass T at the firewall near the air cleaner and then a vent line from the T to the air cleaner.
Engines/ bell housings can get swapped out so what type of engine/bell housing do you have? What is the serial number on the engine block right above where the water pump mounts - a flat spot in front of the engine head.
