Decent books about the M38A1 or its counter parts?

Other then the military manuals, are there any good civilian how to manuals on the M38A1 or its civilian brother.

As easy as the military manuals are to read, they assume you already have some training.

Most of the quality, heavy duty, meaty, full of detail and data manuals require the reader to have some reasonable level of mechnical competence. Most of the "Fix Your XXXXX" are geared more towards the Non-skilled and non-mechanically inclined folks. Chilton and Haynes fit this latter category.

The best meaty books to complement your M38A1/M170 TM's are the Kaiser SM-1046 CJ service manual and the Moses Ludel "Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Manual 1946 to 1971".

I am coming out with a book on the M38 that debuts at the MVPA national next week. If it does very well, I am going to work on an M38A1 equivilant.

I didn't mention Ryan's upcoming book because my understanding is it is more of a M38 parts and finish ID book then a hands on mechanical skills primer. A great book, mind you and destined to a high place on the M38 restorer's shelf like the AAW/Vol I & II and Emilie's books are to the WWII jeep restorer.

Thats great I'd like to get as much info about the M38 as possible. All of my other jeep books only give a few pages to the M38. Can't wait to get a copy. please keep me in mind also.
