My M38 engine?

Post by vetteguy66 »

I finally found my engine number and it is MC 48153. Is there a way too find out if it is original to the Jeep. My M38 has a delivery date of 9/51.

The engine serial should be about 2000 higher than the jeep's serial around the 1951/52 period.

Are their any records available showing about when the engine MC 48153 was produced. I thought I read somewhere that engines marked MC were for M38 and MD were for M38A1. I would hope it was produced during the 1950 -52 time frame.

The very small data base we have comes from the few folks willing to squeeze an hour or so out of the busy schedules to complete our survey form. Untill we have a thousand or more surveys turned in like the WWII G503 guys have we can only make vague stabs at engine serial curves.
