Water Pump Piping

Post by bigcol »

51 M38 Serial MC 11116 Work-In-Progress.

Compared to other M38 engine pictures I am confused by the two metal pipe connections coming off the waterpump below engine serial plate. They are both positioned at the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock position and looks like a length of flex hose is needed to join them??

One hole gets a pipe nipple so the bypass hose from the nipple on the front of the head can be coneccted to it with a very short piece of 90 degree preformed hose. The other is plugged unless you are installing a hot water heater kit.

Take a look in your service manual TM 9-8012 Page 14, 79, 107, 119, 124, 141, & 199.
