You will need to get the purchase of the correct service and parts manuals higher on your list. They are free for you to download here on this web site's "Downloads" page. They will answer thousands of your questions very quickly.

The parking brake fits with an overdrive. The majority of the A1 parking brakes over the years were removed because they rattle so much and folks were too lazy to keep them in good repair.

The M38A1 looks much better in a military Arctic top than an M38 does. My only issue with the A1 top is it has wooden doors.

Thanks Wes. I actually do have the manuals (ordered from Portrayal Press) but when I looked where the overdrive was and where the parking brake drum was I assumed it was removed for the Overdrive. The exploded drawings are great but sometimes you just need a good picture of the same thing or just need to see it in person!

I mean the manuals are there on our site free for you to download and use this very minute. No need to wait to learn about your jeep. There are several illustrations there that will show you there should be no problem or conflict with your original parking brake mechanism. Just as the photo below indicates.
