Reshoeing brakes

Post by idiocrates »

Quick question.....m38a-1.....rear brake shoes......the kit contains one long pad and one short pad. The long pad goes on the front shoe and the short pad goes on the rear shoe. My question is in reference to the short pad........where is it supposed to be positioned on the shoe.....centered....one position up from center......or all the way up to the top position on the shoe? Thanks.
Jim

Jim,
Look closely at the illustration (fig 116) of the right rear brake assembly in TM 9-8012 page 282. The top of the short shoe leaves the top pair of rivet holes unused.
