Carb gumming up?

My M38A1 sat for about 3 weeks because the weather was to rainy for me to work on it.

I went out to try to start it and it wouldn't fire at all. I was worried about draining the batteries so I stopped after multiple attempts to get it going with choke at different positions.

I undid the air line from the air filter and sprayed some carb cleaner in the carb and it started right up.

About a month ago I cleaned out the carb and used a quality rebuild kit. I had no issues with it not starting until just now.

Could the gas that set in the carb collected some moisture or gummed up the jets a bit? I have a clear fuel line attached at the carb for testing purposes and I was getting plenty of fuel.

It would have to be some very bad gas. I doubt that is your problem.

Review your starting procedure. If you have a stock M38A1 fuel system including the correct carb then we start with the choke pulled all the way out, no foot on the pedal and turn the switch. This is because the accelerator pump is vacuum operated. If this is how you are starting it then there must be either too much air (choke not closing or intake leak) or not enough fuel (Plugged jet, low pump output etc).
