M38 Dash Data Tags

Has anyone encountered an M38 tub with the dash pre-drilled for the individual data plates, rather than for the large plate with all the tags riveted on? This is the case with my tub, just wondering how many tubs were built this way. There is no hole for the heater.

prior to 34xxx the plates were attached to the dash and there was no hole for the heater kits

Finally picking back up after a near 3 1/2 year interlude (Florida living combined with lack of workspace = NO PROGRESS). I'm doing the prep work to put the final paint on my '47 2A (which has a pretty healthy M38 tub), & just got my '53 A1 delivered from my Dad's place, so I'll be starting on finishing that one soon. I'll get pics posted as soon as I can locate my camera cable.

How bout yours, did you have a safe tour & return back to work on the M38?

I have an early M38 as well. But it has no dataplates. Were they mounted by screws? I would hate to try and rivet those things on.

Yep, screws are listed in your ORD 9 parts manual.

Hey, yest the data plates were attached with screws.

Galen, before I went overseas I had a lot of stuff ready to start putting on the frame so when I got back I worked on it over the last year while trying to find work.
I need to to take an updated photo - I have pretty much everything together except the fording vent lines and a few other small bugs to work out. She runs fairly well and it has been fun to drive around.

I'll look at your photos.

Wes, do you happen to have the screw size from the Ord 9 manual for the data tags?

M38A1 Screw, threaded, tapping, cross recess, pan head, gimlet-point, sheet metal thread, steel, Zn or Cad pltd, No. 6 (0.138)x 3/8".

M38 was same size and material but flat tip screw driver head for individual plates to dash and cross-recess (phillips) for the large plate to dash.
