Rear bearing oil seal and grease slinger gasket

Post by 53a1 »

I went to NAPA today and the guy could not find this part for CJ5 or M38a1. Have you guys ordered these from NAPA?

Also, what does the puller look like to get the rear bearing out. I looked in ch. 3 of the org and maint instructions and it just says to use a suitable puller.

Also, an odd felt seal was sandwiched between the backing plate and axle and got felt in the bearing.

Thanks.

Thanks Wes.

Would have helped if I attached the picture with my first question :?

The part is H in your picture, the gasket that goes on the seal and slinger. If the bearing is ok I'm thinking about leaving the bearing on the shaft when I clean it.
