M38 Taillights

Post by supertomp »

Hey guys i recieved my M38 taillights from a gentleman off ebay today, They are def NOS and the right ones but, the lenses are clear. It has me stumped. There was def no mentioning of this in the add. Any suggestions or a lead where i can get the proper lenses. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by clear. The left units have a clear lens for BO tail and a red lens for Service stop. The right units have only the two clear BO openings.

Ok, so the one i have for the right is correct. But, the left stop light portion has a clear lens I have one of each of the lights pictured and will put them in that order. Just trying to figure out why the lens is clear on the light that has the stop light area. Wesk thank you for the quick response!

They were used on some M series up front thus the clear service parking or turn lamp. My M37 is a good example:

If you are doing a factory class resto then the right BO functions only light is ok. If you plan on driving the jeep in traffic then you should use two left hand units so you have two reasonably visible red tail/stop lamps to help folks see your intentions a little better.

Wesk Where do you recomend getting the the proper lens for the one side? So that the upper portion will be red. I have a trick little l.e.d. set up on magnets that i will be using for heavy driving.

I am pretty sure that Peter Debella has tail light doors for pretty cheap.

After I finished my tail lights I took them out and stored them away and installed a pair of these. A guy told me it was a good idea if i was going to drive it on the road so as not to get rear ended. They fit right in and I rewired so I have both tail lights and brake lights I think they are from a Gamma Goat?
