primer grey then metal.
sanded the hood for numbers --NOTHING but yellow paint
removed tranny cover under the seal was primer grey..you could see some yellow seeped into the canvas seal..

Unless you can date the age of the yellow paint the jeep could have been completely stripped and repainted yellow during an early restoration effort in the 60's which as you can see is still half a century ago. Without scientifically dating the paint there is no 100% positive proof either way.

Another addition to this conversation. I have posted before that I have a USMC 1961 A1 with yellow wheels. It turns out that with it's hood number beginning with a 94 prefix, and a friend pointing out that an all yellow A1 appears in a picture of a book titled Marine Air has a 94 prefix, and both having US Navy on the hood, I am certain that mine was attached to a Navy or Marine air base. In trying to match the yellow paint on the wheels, the closest Ihave come is a Catapillar color. Cat has several different colors and none are really right on....but close.
