Bantam Trailer

Post by jackthebear46 »

HELP! I know that this isn't military, but, I am looking for the front & rear spring hangers for my BT3-C civilian trailer. I have restored it & took it into a body shop (along with the hangers) to have it painted. The paint shop went into receivership! I managed to obtain everything except the spring hangers! I know the hangers are not the same as my M100, but do they differ from the MBT? Does anyone have a set? I have e-mailed Jeepdraw but he hasn't replied yet. Also, posted a request on the BT3-C forum.

That is truly unfortunate. I believe you can use any of the brackets from the M100, T3-C, T-3 and MBT.

Did you check the MD Juan parts list?

Thanks for the reply Wes. The BT3-C have bolt on hangers, do the other trailers? My M100 has weld on & are longer. I would like to keep it original if possible. I will check the MD Juan list.

I am sorry to hear what you are going through. I have a friend who had parts lost at a body shop for his 48 CJ. These parts are getting hard to come by.

I just finished restoring a 45 Bantam military trailer. The hangers did bolt on. I am not sure on the civilian version, but remember there is a difference between the Willys and the Bantam hanger. The Bantam trailer had a bolt on shock mount and the Willys had a cotter pin.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply, Mario. The BT3C did not have a shock mount. Did the shock not attach from the lower plate below the spring to a separate bracket up on the frame? I just might have to try & obtain a set of MBT hangers & modify (if I can find them). Drawings & parts for the civilian trailer are sure scarce!

pardon my ignorance, but can one file a claim with the court appointed receiver? Its still considered your property should it be found, no? just tell me to shut-up if I'm talking nonsense...

Mod:

I would think so, particularly as it is this gentleman's property, that was merely in the care, custody and control of the failed shop. Surely conversion would not have happened.

Your mileage may vary. Contents will settle across state lines and definitely across national borders.

Thanks for the replies. The hanger brackets were probably thrown in the scrap metal bin.
