M38 Engine/Tub alignment

Hi,
I have been working on my 1951 M38. It was missing the engine when I purchased it. I have found a RMC engine, had it rebuilt and recently installed it. After installation the starter plunger drags along the side of the engine. It appears that the engine should be moved to the left or the tub to the right about 1/2". I have looked at the photos of the tub mounting bolts and it seems that the "ears" on the tub at location 1 would prevent much lateral movement of the tub. Any movement possible with the engine? Is there enough movement in the floor panels to get enough room? Any suggestions on how to correct this would be much appreciated.

This is just a guess but based on experience. Could it be the wrong starter or plunger mechanism?

The bolt holes in the tub for mounting the floor switch should be slotted allowing the switch to slide right or left.

I put several washers on one of the bolts between the floorswitch and the tub to get the best allignment.

DJ was right. There should be slots in the floor plate that allow some alignment adjustment.
But, I have owned at least one tub that had round holes rather than slots.

Thanks for all the help. There were just round holes for the plunger mechanism until I took that floor panel off and made them oblong. Now the plunger has enough lateral movement to keep it from rubbing.
