I got to the numbers on the engine. Will these help date this jeep as the PO took all data plates
On the boss under the thermostat housing is:
RMD74867
On the side of the block is:
808277-W-18-D-AR
Any answers would be helpful.

RMD is a factory new replacement engine. That engine could have been installed in any year M38A1 in the field. So no luck with dating your jeep with a known replacement engine in it. A M38A1 built for the US Army in 1955 would have a serial ranging from MD79XXX thru MD85XXX and it's engine would be MD103XXX thru MD107XXX.
