I got a carb question too......

Post by idiocrates »

On the YS carb on the m38a-1.....if one no longer has all the fording ventilation plumbing.....does one still need to install the balance vent tube that ran from the horn of the carb to the air intake pipe or can this hole just be plugged? The reason I ask is looks like I will be fabricating the intake pipe and I need to know if I need one hole in it or two. Thanks.
Jim

All gravity feed carbs must have an unblocked bowl vent to function. You should either provide the tube to the crossover pipe or install a hooded vent fitting to keep the vent area clean and open.

The small vent fitting shown in the photo below for the M38A1 carb will do the job.
