CB radio mounting in m38

I need ideas where to mount a cb in my m38. Any one have pictures of where they mounted them?

It would be neat to get a derelict military radio,
gut it, keep the front panel, hinge that, and mount
the Citizens' Band radio inside. Paint the CB antenna
OD and use a correct mount for that.

I thought of that as well.

I am going to use the antenna that is already on my jeep. the military anteannas work just fine for CB use.

Depending upon how big, you could stuff one in an ammo can.

I've had your idea for a while but haven't found an old military radio I could do that with. I have a Rhino 530 CHx that is handy, but it's hand-held and not the same as what you're talking about.
Where could one find an old military radio to gut and put a CB radio in? I imagine that they're probably worth bucks if restorable so would want one that is only good as a shell.

I think I have figured something out until I find an ammo can the right size. I will post pictures when I have it mounted.

I am going to use an ammo can at some point so that I can keep the cb dry.

stuff. Some of it might be adaptable.

So, I'm unfamiliar with the older military radios. What would be a good type to get and what shell components to make it look correct? Do I need to have a power supply box, transceiver, receiver, etc? I'm more familiar with the current US Army radios than the older ones.

Balvar24 had a great idea! Also, an EE-8 field
telephone case (the whole thing runs around $60-
$80 dollars) with the phone stuff out would most
likely hold a CB radio. You could hang it on the
seat or lay it in the floor between the seats, with
an unobtrusive wire to a power point and another
to an antenna. Same with a gas mask bag.

But you want to be sure you are not gutting good usable radios.
Looks like Earl is now downgraded to a media event here in Zooport, RI. It may be a good rain storm but not much more. Fingers still crossed. We're ready though, Lots of boatyard economies were stimulated pulling boats for the past 3 days.

Don't want to gut a good radio. I would rather have that go to someone who wants to restore it. Just want the shell.
So, "Hurricane" Earl update: sitting here 100 meters from the Vineyard Sound and it doesn't compare, so far, to the 1991 Hurricane Bob. But, we're getting more wind and the rain is picking up. But it's moving fast so should be beautiful tomorrow. Glad I'm not at sea though! Done that a few times...

I believe there are several inexpensive 1945 to 1955 'ish military HF sets that would work and can be used in the CB band without gutting them for a modern CB transceiver.

You guys have folks to talk to on CB's on the east coast?

I drive for 2 or 3 days without hearing any traffic on my CB.
