m38 vs m38a1 dash

Post by tomahawk715 »

Are they the same?? Or are they close??? I dont have one at all--the M38a1 I"m building doesnt have one at all. I'm not building a 100 percent museum showpiece, just a true looking driver, but need to know if I'm even in the ballpark if I get a M38 dash. Thanks in advance

Sorry Tomahawk, but there are many differences between the M38 and M38A1 dashes. Glove compartment doors are on opposite ends and of different size and shape. M38 handbrake handle is mounted in the dash, while the A1 handle is down on the corner of the toolbox. And the height is different. On the plus side, because the A1 dash isn't welded on but just bolted on, it is sometimes seen for sale as a used part. Good luck in your search, and your restoration!
