M38A1 Registration numbers

Looking for some guidance from the experienced ones on what reg number to put on the hood of my M38A1 (ser#57468) delivered Sept, '53. I realize this isn't an exact science, but any guidance is appreciated. Many thanks.

This question shows up every 2 months or so. The accepted procedure which helps keep the program honest, above board and causes no pain for future researchers is as follows.

You use the first 3 or 4 numerals found during the period your jeep was delivered and finish the number with your jeep's serial number.

For Sep 1953 that would be 209XXXXXx OR 2096xxxxx.
