Numbers in description of bolt

Post by Cacti_Ken »

What does the 3 x 2 and 3 x 1, mean in the description of the bolt measurement?
I figure it has something to do with the length, but don't know what.

3/8NF-3 x 2

3/8 = saft diameter
N/F = National Fine
-3 = thread pitch
X 2 = shaft length of the fastener

Thank you Ryan. I always shopped for the diameter, the NF or NC and the length, not the thread pitch.
