Here are a couple of photos of my other hobby...

Restoring a 1951 Willys Station Wagon, the first SUV...

This is how I found it sitting in the field...

It was complete except for a radiator and air filter

here is how it sits now after 2 years of work...

The body is due from the sanblaster this week and body work is due to start soon...

I probably will not make the Weare Rally again... too long of a trip got me... but then don't count me out; still have family in Portland....

I got lucky, the whole rig cost me $440 to buy the jeep... guy wanted it out of the field...

I now have about $4K in it... had to have the motor rebuilt as the PO had spun the #2 and #3 rod bearings...

Getting there...

What color are you going to paint it? It looks good so far. Is gray the original color for the engine?

The original Jeep was painted Chesapeake Gray - a silver color... I am going back with that and am going to add just a touch ot flake to make it stand out...

As for the motor, I painted it the light gray to help spot leaks and rips... plus it is the color I had available...

I am working on a budget here of $150 per month, plus what ever I can scrape up from other things... keeping out of the household budget as much as possible... My wife will set funds asside to assist if I give her enough warnig...

I have the following book:

"SERVICE MANUAL FOR JEEP UTILITY VEHICLES"

Do you want a pdf copy of it? It is already torn apart and put in a 3-ring binder so it would be easy to copy. It is a real handy book I have the Jeep one too but it is not torn apart.

Hey Guys, I also have such a civvy Willys to restore. Mine is a 53 truck, is already getting nice. Besides the MVs, these are neat cars, aren't they?
