Need info please (M38 content)

Post by silverbullet72tnt »

We ( me and my dad) just got an M38 serial number MC 54811. Where can I find out what year, contract, DOD, and all that good stuff. All of the data plates from tha dash were missing, but luckily someone riveted tin over the wheelhouse mounted plate, so it was still there.

thanks in advance guys (and girls)

MC54811 would be a February 1952 M38 built under contract number DA-033-019-ORD-43.

In our data bases which are loaded on the Downloads page. The information in the data bases comes from the jeep survey forms we sent to every member.

Which for some unknown reason only have a 30% return rate!

as soon as we get ours torn own and find all the numbers we have left, I will definitely help out with filling in all my info.

Is there anyway without the plates to find out what the date of delivery and which branch the jeep served in?

I am at work and can't load the data base here. Will have to wait til I get home for that

thanks again this site is great

I gave you the date of delivery above (Feb 52). If there are no traces of USMC forest green, USN gray or USAF Strata Blue then odds are you have a Army unit.

strata blue seems like the right color. It is green now, but underneath everything seems to be blue

Keep me up to date if it is blue. Also sand the hood very carefully to try to find the hood numbers.
