M38 paint

Post by magnum »

I have a 1952 M38. I have two questions; first is the correct paint number 24087/ The next one is did it come/have a Pyrene fire extinguisher with it?

Correct paint code is OD 2430. OD 24087 didn't appear until late 1954 and wasn't used by Willys until the 60's. It;s very difficult to find anyone stocking OD 2430. The Gillespie 23070 and Army Jeeps Parts "Late WWII OD" are the closest off the shelf colors.

The jeeps did not leave Willys with a fire extinguisher. If you are thinking the bracket on the tool box under the passenger seat may have held one it was not for a fire extinguisher. It was for the small hand pump type decontamination bottle.
