Tie Rod Tubes

Post by lilm38 »

Hi All,
Are the tie rod tubes on the M38 (without the ends) the same length or is one side longer? Thanks.

The passenger side tie rod tube is several inches longer than the driver side.

If you look at page 269 in your copy of the 1956 ORD 9 SNL G-740 (free in the downloads section of this web site) you'll see there are two right tubes and two left tubes since there are six different part numbers Spicer front axle assemblies used during production.

Basically the left tubes are aproximately 17.19 to 17.25" long and the right tubes are 187/8" long.
