Body mounts

Post by idiocrates »

My m38a-1 frame has the WO-806217, 218, and 219 brackets for the machine gun mount. Do I understand correctly, that when properly installed, neither the tub or any of its hat channels will rest on these brackets? Would it be of any benefit to add a hat channel between the two frame rail mounted brackets and the rear floor pan...or between the flat plate and the rear floor?

Jim,
Not sure what you are describing. The main crossmember mounted machine gun pedestal support plate sets against the tub. Post a photo of the brackets that you are concerned about.

I believe you use the necessary steel spacers when installing the machine gun pedestal. They will be around 1/8" to 1/4" thick. If the tub mount rubbers are tired the plate almost rests right against the floor.
