There is no operating lever. Diff lock would be a a Power-Loc differential that has clutches in it and provides posi-traction (equal power to each wheel) automatically. This was a Willys option and many late production M38A1's came with it. The differential housing cover plate will have a tag on it that says "Use Limited Slip Lube Only"

good to know...ill check, i have 2 m38a1's....both are 1953
