Trans, transfer, oil quanity

Post by DJ »

Ive got the better part of a gallon of lube in the trans and transfer case. The trans is full to the fill plug ,transfer is below the fill plug. I finally read the manual ,which calls for 5 pints total. My questions, Where would the other 2 plus pints be.?Should the oil level be below the filler plug hole? Will the extra oil cause a problem? I can't remember what I did last time I changed the oil in them. A case of CRS!

Thanks DJ

2 pints in tranny and 3 pints in transfer.

Some of the units will let the fluid move between them depending on the transfer case used. Initially they should be filled to the bottom edge of the filler plug hole.
