CJ2A vs M38 seat question

Post by 11cgrunt »

Does anyone know if a CJ2A seat will fit over an M38 tank? Ive posted this on the 2A forum. Im really wanting the correct seat but have an opportunity to get a set of original 2A seats.
Tank measurements are the same except the height-cj2a is 6 1/4"
-M38 is 7 1/2"

Would it be as simple as putting 1-1/4" spacers under the seat frame at the mounting points and using longer bolts?

The CJ3A and the M38 have shorter wheel house tops and their seats are angled back further giving you more belly room at the bottom of the steering wheel. The CJ2A seats are not angled back further. So yes you can booger the CJ2A seat to mount in the M38 but it will not look good, it will have a large space between the bacj rest and the rear wheel house and you will be tight against the steering wheel.

The M38 seats are out there. If you must buy cheap then find a 3A seat.
