horn question

Question? My horn (M38 round with a big head bolt in the center) has the douglas connectors (sitting in the jeep and looking at the back of the horn) at 1 and 2 oclock position. There is no problem there with the hood closing, but I just saw a pic of the same horn with the connectors at 4 and 5 o'clock position. wich I would prefer, a little less in the way when you work on the engine.
Now is there a way you can turn the casing to have the connectors at the bottom instaid of at the top.

I believe you must drill out the flange rivets and re-index the mount leg then install new rivets.

Mine had bolts all the way round, just took them loose and turned it where I wanted it...

The horn was very dirty and theinsulation on the wires was almost gone... fixed that and all is well now...

Hal is correct they are bolts. I was looking at my new 3B horn.

My jeep came with an original horn that makes 1 vibration and then stops, I figure this thing must be some sort of electromagnet inside with a flip to turn the current or switch it on/off.
Has anybody had any luck taking them to bits and rebuilding them?

Dave,

I took mine apart, cleaned it up and replaced the wires from the Douglas connectors to the coil. I used a little WD40 on the part thru the coil to help cut the corrosion...

The horn can be taken apart to certain degree... just be careful not to damage the coil or diaphrams...

Put a lot of work into it. The pics are about 3 1/2 years old, The jeep was not completly finnished yet. I did a frame up resto on it and started with the mechanical first wich is not a problem with me, but the body work was something different I had to do a lot of learning first before I could face that. It turned out realy good for a novice.
