Confusion about M38 tires...

Post by Herrmann_Sherman »

I´m very confused because a friend of mine told me (as much as I know M38 tires are 7.00x16) that for an M38 6.00x16 are also "legitime". Is this true? I know 6.00 will work but the question is, did US military ever used 6.00x16?

Thanks for input...

7.00 - 16 is correct. Perhaps your friend read about the 6 pilot model (pre-production) M38's that came with 6.00 - 16 tires and WWII type combat wheels.

This would be reference to the diameter of the stud circle on the rim as well as the spacing between studs...

I do not understand this ....
Note that the difference between the two values is 0.008 "

may be the tolerance range in diameter circle stud?

Yes that is the tolerance range allowed which can also be stated as 5.5" diameter + or - .004" .
