I know, I know
you can rub it in all you want, but I am doing the 11" drum brakes instead of the discs. It turns out the disc will be a huge hassle, and I really wasn't too happy with putting spacers on the tires. Even with shipping everything back, it's still quite a bit cheaper. The one question I have, is will the 11" drums clear by 16" combat rims? I know they will with the civilian rims.

yes, they will clear the M38A1 mil spec rims, try to find the Backing plates/Drums from1972-1974 Jeep CJ or 1967-1970 Jeep truck/ Wagoneer, Jeepster Commandos, or International Scouts that used Dana axles.
you'll need to swap the front "s" brake line for a 9" hose directly to the wheel cyl. and possibly remove both the brake-line guard that mounts to the top of the front axle knuckles.
your M38A1 rims are not considered "Combat" per se', those were used on GPW /MB's
While your at it, inspect the entire brake circuit for leaks, rusted lines or decay/fray/cracks on the flexible lines. Also inspect your M/C..
