Dash board rivets

Post by Deadguy »

I got a repro dash plate with the data plates to go on it. I got the rivets as well. This is a weird question, but is there a special tool to fasten them in place?

rivets

Is it the split-type rivets you mean? If so, this might help:

There should be tools out there that you can buy off-the-shelf, too. Try a google search for "split rivet tool" or "split rivet mandrel".......

Tubular hollow rivets. The setting tool is the same one used for brake lining rivets.

The bottom tool is used against the open end of the rivet and rolls the edge outward and back towards the rivet head.

This tool can be found in several different arrangements but all can be used on your rivets.
