new to site with another m100

Post by 1949f1 »

this is my first post.i found this web site thursday after getting my trailer. first a short story about the trailer. my uncle bought it ten years ago from a tn valley athority auction. he was 76 years old at the time and i was 40. so since the time he bought it, it has been sitting in the woods by his barn and i have been trying to get it since he bought it.i have ask him about half a dozen times a month to sell it to me.i went up to see him on wend. the 6th of this month to tell him happy birthday ,he turned 86 and i am now 50. when i was leaving he stopped me and said, take that trailer home with you when you leave.( i ask him how much and he said it was free ). i was shocked when he said that. so now some info i have found about the trailer. made by dunbar and the r is stamped backwards.serial #285490,delivery date 8 52,inspected by r k h. it has round fenders, tie down handles- 4 on each side and 2 on front with hand handles on two front corners.parking brake has hand grip style, shocks have cotter pins on top and bottom mounts, axel is straight tube with seam, 10 leaf springs.the left tire is stamped 1953 and is so hard it will roll even with a big hole in it. the wheels are two piece and both are in bad shape and need to be replaced.the brake cables came loose after spraying them with wd/40. the left brake works but the right side is missing everything for the brakes.the back has been cut open for a gate but does not have one on it.the pindle is gone and it its place is a big bolt holding a plate that had a draw bar for a tractor on it. ( the draw bar is the only part he ask to keep )so i also need a pindle.
