Backseat M38 / CJ3A same bracket?

Post by Herrmann_Sherman »

On my M38 are different body updates. Actually a CJ3A backseat is fixed. Sooner or later I will change the backseat to a M38 backseat.
Can you tell me: Will the M38 backseat fit on the bracket of the CJ3A (hole etc.)?

Many thanks for answers

The CJ3A rear seat mounts in the two depressions in the rear floor that on the CJ3A have metal tabs across their center for the two front leg tabs on the 3A rear seat to slide under and the two round rear legs on the 3A seat snap into two holes in the rear floor that have spring type latch sockets below them.

The M38 rear floor has only the two curved depressions without the metal tab across them and has no round holes with spring type latches. Instead the brackets for the M38 rear seat is installed on the vertical sides of the two rear wheel houses. The M38 seat does not touch the floor.

This is the WWII jeep rear seat but the M38 is very similar and also mounts to brackets on the sides of the wheel houses.

John at Midwest Military has all the brackets you need:
