need onfo on a m38a1 windsheild frame

Post by circleburner12 »

i apologize for the pics being so big, but please take a look at the pics, i got this frame from a friend of mine, it came off of a m38a1 but we notice the left bottom of the frame was different then most. the frame does not appear to been drop and no damage to the corner of the frame. it looks to be made like that from the factory.

has anyone seen this or knows why it was made that way

thanks michaelImage

That's not factory. The skin is buckled from flexing of the frame beyond it's limits usually caused by something getting jammed between the windshield base and the cowl.

i thought the same thing, i looked the frame over real well but no damage too the corner. i would think if the frame was damage some how it would'nt be perfect around that crease. just dont know. but i agree it does'nt seem normal.

Do share the solution with the group. That's what these boards are all about.

wesk, i knew the frame was'nt drop on the edge, because there were no damage too it. and more i thought about what you said about something may have gotten jam between the frame and cowl. so i inspected it better and notice the width was wider on the other side. it was approx 3 1/4 inches and the other side was 3 inches. so a rubber mallet was the solution.now both sides measure the same, but i sure could'nt tell untill i put a tape measure too it. thxs michael
