Tire size?

Post by Chris »

Good evening all,

I am going to be buying some tires for my 51 M38 soon, and I was wondering, does it take the same size as a MB/GPW or the larger M38A1 tire size?

Thanks for the help, it is appreciated!!

Chris, the Mb/GPW uses the 6:00 x 16 tire. For your M38A1, you need the 7:00 x 16 size. Two good sources are Coker Tire http://www.coker.com/ and Wallace Wade http://www.wallacewade.com/ The M38A1 came from the factory with Goodyear tires, but they are no longer available new.

Your 51 M38 also came from the Willys Factory with Goodyear 7.00-16's.

Thanks! I just checked with Coker, they sell two types of NDT's now, a regular and a cross country. both in the size you stated! Cool.

Thanks again!

The NDCC or Cross Country is correct for your M38. NDT is the WWII tire and NDCC is the post WWII tire.

Wes, correct me if I'm wrong, but the NDT tire has a more square sholder than the NDCC.

The tread design. The NDT has a more agressive and sharper edge. The NDCC is more roundish on the edges. The NDCC seems to handle hard surfaces better.

Coker sells the NDCC for only a couple dollars more than the NDT so I guess I'll go with the NDCC. Thanks everyone!!
