Sandblasted most of my M170 frame today..

Post by ApacheWillys »

..and didn't find any numbers stamped but the usual frame part nos. It seems to have been painted gloss black, then OD, then undercoated after the body was on, then OD again. The undercoat had to be scraped off with a razor blade, the blaster wouldn't take it off easily. I found 2 minor stress cracks. I have used about 50# of sand so far and am about 60% done. Spent 6 hours on it today. I primered it as I went in case it rains.

Why don't you post a couple of photos of the cracks you found. It'll help the next guy by showing him where to look and what to look for.

Here is the photos of the frame cracks and a number stamp on the frame. I think the cracks happened because someone used a lift hook in that hole to lift up the DS front corner.
