body gusset

So I fabbed up a gusset to replace my rusted out one. After I got it all in place in the tub, I found out that there are 2 holes that are open on the vertical middle bend. Is there any purpose to these or what were they for? If I have to, I can always just drill 2 holes.

Just to confirm, yes mine has the holes too. They lead to
nowhere-cant say what they're for.
BTW- nice job on the fab..
