SHE LIVES

Post by tomahawk715 »

So after being so busy I couldnt get to it I finally spent some time getting my M38a1 running.

No wiring so set up basic ignition/starter circuit. Battery cables rerun. Found out starter was on its way to the big jeep pasture in the sky. Local NAPA had starter for it on the shelf!!! Alot of guys run old jeeps down on Drummond Island.

New plugs wires and points.

Ran temp boat tank gas set up to the pump and fired her up.

Thinking I have to run some 4plus2 in her as just does not want to idle. Carb prob needs a build but runs too good at anything but idle. Hoping 4plus2 will do a little hillbilly rebuild on all the small passages.

BUT felt great to baja around the farm :)

Yepper

Its actually running better and better the more I run it. Little white smoke when you gun it but the oil was a bit "gassy" no doubt from overcranking sometime. Ive replaced the oil but plan on doing it a few more times now that its running good.

Now on to the brakes--PO peeled the brake cylinders out for some reason-He did run new lines and put in a new MC so its going the right way. So at the very least I need soft lines and brake cylinders.
