Footman loop provisions

Post by Bretto »

As I have been doing body work, I found these a while back and have been meaning to ask. They aren't holes but rather dimples. There are 2 on both wheel wells and 2 on either side of he the tailgate opening. Is there any info behind these? Its like they were factory stamped to show where to drill if you had to add footman loops for something.

Looks like someone welded two holes shut on each side of the tailgate. The footman loop holes are farther from the tail gate.

Nah those are open (in white).
If you look close on your pic you can see those dimples I'm talking about also. More so on the right side of your pic (driver side)

If you meander over to the CJ3A page you'll see they are a leftover knock out for the CJ3A's canvas top footman loop.

Thanks, I see that now. Also discovered the knock outs for the rear legs of the 3a rear seat.
