Thanks for all the help on figuring this out ! I will keep you posted after we get the jeep done, were going to to it s a fast attack fire truck ( well its a willys not that fast) but were going to build it to parade and show ready but have it actualy work ! We think its going to be a fun project but we will see :P

Ok now im confused again I took the floor pan off and the frame is closed (see pictures ) also I found a date stamped on the transfer case 6/21/55

Thanks for the info i think.i have.decided to make it a.jeep fire vehicale for.show.any ideas on what the fire jeep looked like would help

The civvy frame rails are boxed at several hi stress areas but the military frame rails are boxed all the way from the firewall area to the front bumper not just at the steering box and spring pivots. With that huge winch I would not be surprised if more of those CJ5 frame rails were boxed in by the prior owner.
