Gas tank strap bracket

Post by evanso1975 »

On the driver's side inside face of the side panel on my M38 (the panel where the gas tank neck sticks through), I believe there should be a bracket attached to retain one end of the long strap that holds the gas tank in place.

Now, the front floor and bottom 5 inches or so of the side panels were replaced by the previous owner (obviously rusted out). Thankfully, they kept the bracket in a box with other assorted items.

Can anyone provide a photo of this area, showing the position & orientation of this bracket. Dimensions would be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance,
Owen.

These might help. They were taken when I redid the floors and the gusset. As you can see though, the bracket is there. Sorry that they are upside down. They are actually oriented the right way, the tub is upside down on rotisserie.

That's great, Bretto. I should be able to figure out the dimensions from your photos.

Many thanks,
Owen.

I measured and got 3-5/8" from the floor to the bottom of the bracket. Or 3-5/8" from the top of the tub rim to the top of the bracket. And it is nested right up against that gusset. If its not dead on exact, the tank strap is a little forgiving
