What is the difference in the M38 starter MCZ4001UT and the M37 starter MCZ4002UT? Are they interchangeable?

As far as I can tell from photos, the actuating lever (the bit the foot starter pedal strikes against) is longer. In theory, you might be able to modify the lever to suit.
I don't have one to compare against; can any powerwagon folks out there help?

The M38 starter is set up for mounting on the right side of the flywheel and the M37 starter is set up for mounting on the left side of the flywheel.
