My brake lever arm shifts side to side when depress it

Post by Deadguy »

The hole through the floorboard has no seal, so maybe that is the cause? I see a "draft pad kit" for sale, for clutch and brake pedals, and I'm wondering if that is what I need.

As I said in your resistor post:
All it takes to find 2/3rds of what you are looking for is a wee bit of in house research, the search function of this web site and the good old GOOGLE web site.
It is very rare for a question to be asked on this site that hasn't already been asked before!

The draft kit is to seal the hole, it does nothing to help the pedal drift if that is what you may have been thinking. One or a combination of parts could be worn. Check the pedal shaft pivot hole, the cross shaft and bushings on the brake/clutch assembly.

I spent like a half hour looking through Google for "draft kit" and the like, and only found them for sale. I even tried searching for "draft kit" on this very message board. I didn't look up "pedal", which apparently would have gotten me better results. I have been told, that the reason my brake pedal is loose, is that the brake lever arm is worn out. I tried to get these from Debella and Kaiser-Willy and both keep being out of stock, every single time I try.

If you have sat down and read the posts I listed you should understand clearly what you need to get rid of the pedal rock. It's a very simple problem to fix. Dis-assemble, replace/repair worn parts, re-assemble and shim with washers as needed. Take particular notice to Bretto's bushing replacement treatise.

pedal

The problem you have is the pedal arm. It does not have a bushing and most likely the shaft is worn also. Both pieces will need to be replaced or repaired. The pedal draft pad kit will not fix your problem. I have the draft pad kits and pedal shaft in stock.
